Dozens of NHL Players Placed on Waivers Ahead of Roster Deadline

Friday’s waiver list reached 61 names as clubs moved closer to Monday’s 5 p.m. ET roster cutoff. Utah’s Brandon Tanev, 34, is among the most established players available; he recorded three assists in 56 games last season and has two years remaining at a $2.5 million cap charge. St. Louis also exposed Oskar Sundqvist, a 2019 Stanley Cup winner, and Nathan Walker.
San Jose waived goalie Eric Comrie, while Carolina included Pierre-Olivier Joseph and Skyler Brind’Amour, whose father Rod coaches the Hurricanes. Washington trimmed four players to reach a 40-man camp roster. On Thursday, 30 players were waived; only Leevi Merilainen was claimed, by Vancouver, with more cuts expected before Monday.
