Dortmund teenager Mathis Albert shines in first USMNT appearance
Mathis Albert, a 17-year-old Borussia Dortmund forward, made his senior debut for the United States in a friendly against Peru. After entering with the score tied at 1-1, he won a penalty that Malik Tillman converted, helping the USA secure a 4-1 victory. Albert had earlier become the youngest American to play in the Bundesliga in April.

Earlier in 2026, Albert set a national mark in April by becoming the youngest American to appear in the Bundesliga, debuting for Dortmund against Freiburg at 16 years, 11 months and five days. He also played the full match in a 5-0 DFB Cup win over HEBC Hamburg. He is not yet a regular Dortmund starter.
