INFINITUM Finishes Major Redesign of The Hills Before DP World Tour Q-School
INFINITUM has completed a multimillion-euro renovation of all 18 holes at The Hills in Spain. The redesign includes a new island-style 18th, a longer par-3 10th, a water feature at the 15th, and reversed routing on holes 15 and 16. The course will host DP World Tour Qualifying School from November 6–11.
The Hills, on Spain’s Costa Dorada, has undergone its biggest upgrade since opening in 2008. European Golf Design’s Dave Sampson oversaw changes across every hole, including a new island-style 18th set against the quarry and a longer par-3 10th with a rebuilt green.
Other alterations include a water hazard at No. 15, swapped routing for Nos. 15 and 16, a reversed opening dogleg, and a new ninth tee and green. Bermuda 419 fairways and Zoysia bunker surrounds aim to cut water and chemical needs. The neighboring Lakes course was renovated in 2024.
The renovation may strengthen INFINITUM’s appeal as a golf destination on the Costa Dorada, potentially drawing more visiting players, event spectators and real-estate interest. Aspiring professionals at November’s DP World Tour Qualifying School could face a more strategic test, while local workers and businesses may see short-term event spending. The shift to drought-resistant grasses could also influence how nearby courses approach water use, though actual environmental effects would depend on management.
