Calgary Inks Prospect Chase Harrington to Entry-Level Deal
The Calgary Flames have signed 18-year-old forward Chase Harrington to a three-year, entry-level contract. Harrington was a second-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft and is currently captain of the WHL's Spokane Chiefs. His deal has an AAV of $1.075 million and can slide for two seasons if he does not play at least nine NHL games in either of the next two years.
Calgary's new deal for Harrington runs three years and carries a $1.075 million average annual value. Because he is 18, the contract can slide twice; it would begin in 2028-29 unless he reaches nine NHL appearances in either of the next two seasons. The Flames chose him 36th overall in 2026 after Spokane took him eighth in the 2022 WHL Bantam Draft.
The 6-foot-1, 203-pound left wing is in what likely will be his fourth and final full Chiefs season. Across 195 WHL games, he has 54 goals and 133 points, plus 19 points in 29 playoff outings. He is the first Calgary 2026 draftee to sign; several peers remain in NCAA.

This signing could affect the Flames' long-term roster and salary-cap planning, while giving Harrington added security as he finishes junior hockey. Spokane fans and the WHL may see increased attention around their captain, and younger players in Prince George and across Canada could view his path as a model. If he earns a World Junior role, his visibility may grow further. The main uncertainty is development: the deal's slide provision means Calgary can remain patient without immediate NHL pressure.
