Highgate Taps Docker to Grow Golf Business at Salgados
Highgate appointed Albert Docker as golf sales manager at Salgados Golf Club in Portugal’s Algarve. Docker, who has more than 20 years of golf and hospitality experience, will work with Troon and Highgate’s commercial team to grow business and partner relationships. Troon has managed Salgados’ golf operations since 2023, and four Highgate Portugal properties joined Marriott’s portfolio in 2025.
Albert Docker has taken the golf sales manager role at Salgados Golf Club, a Troon-run facility in Portugal’s Algarve. He joins with over two decades in golf and hospitality and will support Esther Marijuan, Highgate Portugal’s vice president commercial.
Troon began overseeing Salgados’ golf operations, agronomy, sales and marketing in August 2023. The 18-hole layout sits on level ground near Praia de Galé, Salgados Beach and a lagoon nature reserve. In 2025, four Highgate Portugal properties at the site became part of Marriott Hotels & Resorts.
The appointment may strengthen Salgados’ appeal to visiting golfers and groups, potentially benefiting local hospitality staff, nearby businesses, and the Algarve’s tourism economy. Closer ties with Marriott and Troon could draw more international visitors, while residents near the nature reserve may see both economic opportunities and added pressure on local infrastructure and environment. The actual effects will depend on how growth is managed.
