Kuznetsov and KHL's Sibir Mutually Terminate Contract After Eight Games

Evgeny Kuznetsov and KHL club Sibir have mutually agreed to terminate his one-year contract after eight games. His agent said Kuznetsov requested the release due to a serious family health matter. The former Capitals center had two goals and two assists in his brief stint with Sibir.

Kuznetsov and Sibir ended their one-year agreement after eight appearances, with no severance owed. He signed Aug. 8 and posted two goals and two assists, including a debut tally that was his 100th career KHL goal. Agent Shumi Babaev said Kuznetsov sought the release because a family member faces a serious health issue; his mother later indicated his father's condition is serious.
GM Lev Krutokhvostov said the split followed candid talks and family matters kept Kuznetsov from meeting the club's expectations. A TASS source said Traktor, his former club, is not pursuing a reunion
