Jorge Martin secured pole for the MotoGP round at Mobility Resort Motegi, setting a 1:42.371 on his Aprilia. His time beat Alex Marquez's all-time lap record from the previous day. Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta completed the front row.
At Mobility Resort Motegi in Japan, Jorge Martin took pole in Saturday’s MotoGP Q2 aboard an Aprilia Racing RS-GP26. His 1:42.371 was the quickest of 22 riders on the 4.8-kilometer circuit.
The lap also beat Alex Marquez’s 2026 all-time record of 1:42.811, set in Friday practice. Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta joined Martin on the front row, while Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio made up row two.
Martin’s record pole may boost interest in the Motegi round and Aprilia’s season narrative. Fans and broadcasters could see heightened attention around qualifying and race day, while the team and sponsors may gain visibility. For the host region, a notable MotoGP moment could support tourism and local engagement, though effects depend on attendance and media reach. Rival riders may face added pressure to respond.
