Stewart and Buchanan Set Pace at Alfred Dunhill Links

Michael Stewart and Jack Buchanan each opened with 7-under 65 to share the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship lead. Stewart, a late invitee, posted his score at Carnoustie without a practice round, while Buchanan went bogey-free at Kingsbarns. Casey Jarvis and MJ Daffue are one shot behind on 6-under.
Michael Stewart’s invitation came on Monday, and he went directly from the Tartan Pro Tour to Carnoustie. In only his sixth DP World Tour appearance, the 36-year-old Scot carded five birdies and an eagle at the par-4 12th. Jack Buchanan, an Australian, opened with four birdies in six holes and reached the turn in 32 at Kingsbarns. He added birdies at the 10th, 13th and 16th for a bogey-free 65.
Casey Jarvis and MJ Daffue sit one stroke back after 66s. Daffue and amateur Paul Harris share the team lead on 12-under with Ivan Cantero and Tom Jermoluk. The field rotates across Carnoustie, Kingsbarns and St Andrews, with the top 60 professionals and top 20 teams advancing after 54 holes to Sunday’s Old Course finale.
