Will Stein's two-point decision lifts Kentucky past South Carolina in OT

Kentucky coach Will Stein chose a two-point attempt in overtime after Henry Boyer scored, and Willie Rodriguez caught the pass to secure a 35-34 win at South Carolina. Quarterback Kenny Minchey finished 28-of-41 for 272 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Stein said he preferred trusting his quarterback rather than giving LaNorris Sellers another possession.
Kentucky trailed by 17 before rallying to the largest road comeback in program history. In overtime, Henry Boyer scored, and Will Stein opted for a two-point conversion rather than a tying kick. Willie Rodriguez caught the pass in the end zone. Kenny Minchey threw for 272 yards and three scores without an interception. The win moved Kentucky to 4-1 before hosting No. 11 LSU.
Stein said he did not want LaNorris Sellers to get another possession. Sellers passed for 226 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 147 more. Stein praised his quarterback and tight end, calling Rodriguez one of the nation's best at his position. South Carolina fans later chanted for coach Shane Beamer's dismissal. Stein's first-season record matches only Bear Bryant in school history.
