Gigi Marvin’s Career After Playing and Her Broadcasting Roles
Gigi Marvin is a former U.S. national team player who won three Olympic medals, including gold in 2018, and now works as a hockey broadcaster. She retired from playing in October 2024 and has since called games and served as a studio analyst, including for NESN and PWHL Boston Fleet coverage. She also co-founded the RinkRat 19 hockey school in Warroad, Minnesota, and her role with NESN for 2026-27 has not been announced.
Gigi Marvin was born on March 7, 1987, in Warroad, Minnesota, a small town known as Hockeytown USA. Her grandfather Cal Marvin started the Warroad Lakers and is enshrined in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame. She studied communications with a journalism minor at the University of Minnesota, graduating in 2009.
At Minnesota, Marvin recorded 195 points across 152 games and served as co-captain and team MVP in her last season. She played both forward and defense. Beyond three Olympic medals, she earned five world championship golds and two silvers. She co-founded RinkRat 19 with her aunt in 2008.
Marvin’s transition from Olympian to broadcaster could broaden audiences for women’s hockey and give younger players visible role models beyond competition. Her Warroad roots and school work may strengthen local hockey culture, while her NESN and PWHL appearances may help fans connect with the women’s game. Because her 2026-27 role is unannounced, any impact there remains uncertain, but her continued media presence may keep attention on retired athletes’ pathways.
