Blues Prospects Dagenais, Korotky Lead Strong Early Season Performances
St. Louis prospects are off to strong starts across several leagues. Maddox Dagenais, the Blues' 2026 first-round pick, has two goals and two assists in three games for Quebec. Matvei Korotky has contributed assists for SKA and scored a shootout winner, while Justin Carbonneau, Colin Fitzgerald, Carter Stevens, and Dmitri Buchelnikov are also producing early.
Maddox Dagenais, chosen by St. Louis in the 2026 first round, opened his Quebec Remparts season on Sept. 26 with two goals and two assists in a 7-4 victory over Shawinigan. He has four points in three games after producing 30 goals and 62 points in 62 games last season.
Matvei Korotky, a 2024 seventh-round selection, assisted in SKA's Sept. 29 loss to CSKA Moscow. On Oct. 3, he added another helper and came through in the shootout in a 6-5 win over Admiral Vladivostok. Justin Carbonneau, the 2025 first-round pick, had a goal and assist in his AHL debut. Colin Fitzgerald and Carter Stevens also opened well in the OHL, while Dmitri Buchelnikov was contributing in the KHL.
Strong starts by Blues prospects may give St. Louis fans and team followers reasons for optimism, potentially boosting interest in junior, AHL, and KHL coverage. For players, early success could raise expectations and visibility, affecting their development paths and future contract or roster opportunities. Local communities around Springfield and Quebec may see added attention, though these performances alone do not guarantee long-term NHL impact.
