Marian Gaborik Now Runs Family Hockey Complex in Slovakia

Former NHL forward Marian Gaborik has settled in Trencin, Slovakia, where he helps operate the family's MG Rink facility and summer hockey school. The complex opened in 2005 and now includes a hotel, restaurant, and gym, with 24 employees. Gaborik also co-hosts a Slovak podcast and has appeared as a television analyst.
Marian Gaborik’s family facility, MG Rink, opened in 2005 using his early NHL income. It marked its 20th year in 2025 and now houses a hotel, an ice-view restaurant, and a gym. His older brother Branislav handles daily operations, while 24 people work there.
The summer hockey school attracts roughly 500 children annually, including from Australia, Mexico, and Japan. In 2012, seven-year-old Dalibor Dvorsky attended; he later reached the NHL with St. Louis. Gaborik also co-hosts the Slovak podcast Boris a Brambor, which began in October 2019 and surpassed 180 episodes by late 2025.
The facility and school may strengthen Trencin’s local hockey culture by giving children access to training and international peers. It could also support tourism and hospitality through its hotel, restaurant, and gym, affecting employees and visiting families. Gaborik’s podcast and TV work may keep Slovak hockey fans connected to former players and broaden the sport’s reach beyond arenas. These effects are likely modest and local, but they show how athletes can remain involved after retirement.
