The Andalusian resort placed sixth in Condé Nast Traveller’s 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards, in the Best Resorts in Rest of Europe category. The survey gathered over 296,356 responses from UK readers. On site, guests find an 18-hole Alto Club, a Suzann Pettersen-led academy, and a 3,500-square-metre wellness spa.
Alto Club reopened in 2025 after formerly operating as Almenara, offering four tee choices. Its academy has a nine-hole par-3 layout, coaching, and a driving range with covered and open bays. Nearby are Real Club Valderrama, Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, and La Reserva Club—three Spanish top-six courses—with La Reserva about ten minutes away by car.
This recognition may strengthen Sotogrande’s profile among UK travellers, potentially drawing more golf and wellness visitors to the Andalusian coast. Local hotels, restaurants, transport providers, and golf facilities could see added demand, while residents may experience both economic benefits and seasonal pressures. The award may also reinforce Spain’s standing as a luxury golf destination, though its practical effects will likely depend on how the resort and surrounding area manage increased attention.
