Sacramento Adds Wing Trhae Mitchell On Training Camp Deal

Sacramento has added wing Trhae Mitchell on a training camp contract. The 29-year-old went undrafted in 2020 and has spent most of his professional career in the G League, including last season with Birmingham, where he averaged 5.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists over 48 games. If the deal is an Exhibit 10, he could earn up to $91K by being waived and then spending at least 60 days with Stockton.
Trhae Mitchell, a 29-year-old wing, entered professional basketball undrafted in 2020. Most of his career has been in the G League. Last season he played 48 games for Birmingham, the Pelicans’ affiliate, averaging 5.2 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 23.4 minutes. That was his second year with Birmingham; he previously spent four seasons with the Rio Grande Vipers. New Orleans signed and waived him during camp last fall.
Sacramento’s roster now holds 20 training camp players, one under the limit. If Mitchell’s contract includes an Exhibit 10 clause, he could receive as much as $91,000 by being waived before camp ends and then remaining with Stockton, the Kings’ G League team, for at least 60 days.
This move may matter most to Mitchell, who could gain a roster opportunity and, if waived, a bonus tied to time with Stockton. Kings fans and G League followers could see another experienced wing compete for depth. The broader impact on society is likely limited, though such deals can highlight the uncertain, performance-based livelihoods of marginal professional athletes.
