British Superbike Reveals 2027 Cost-Control Technical Package

British Superbike will introduce a new technical platform for 2027 aimed at tighter competition and lower costs. The rules will use torque-based electronics and performance balancing to bring different machines closer, with output targeted around 200 horsepower. Organizers also expect longer engine life, better reliability, and greater manufacturer variety.
For 2027, British Superbike will swap its present control unit for a Mectronik system that governs output via torque. The target is about 200 horsepower, with race data later guiding a move from equalising power to equalising overall performance. Newer machines will remain close to showroom form, while older ones can use approved parts to enter the intended performance band.
That lower ceiling should help engines last longer, run more reliably and reduce how many units a team uses each year. The rules also bring managed rider aids—traction control using inertia readings, wheel-lift limitation and start assistance—and aim to smooth the path between BSB, its feeder categories and series abroad.
The change could affect BSB teams, riders, manufacturers and
