Northumberland Golf Club's Charity Days Surpass £350,000

Close House has reported that its 2026 charity events generated over £350,000. The Have a Heart Charity Golf Day brought in £90,000 for the Sir Graham Wylie Foundation, while other events supported the Great North Air Ambulance Service, Greggs Foundation, and Alan Shearer Foundation. The Northumberland venue also gave more than £30,000 directly and hosted 30 charity days during the year.
Close House, a Northumberland golf venue, said its 2026 charity programme raised over £350,000. The Have a Heart Charity Golf Day contributed £90,000 for the Sir Graham Wylie Foundation and drew more than 200 guests. Other events included the Great North Air Ambulance Service day, which raised over £21,000, the Greggs Foundation day at £23,000, and the Alan Shearer Foundation day at £30,000.
The club also gave more than £30,000 directly and hosted 30 charity days. Its Lee Westwood Colt and Filly courses staged the fundraising golf programme. Additional beneficiaries named included Cancer Research, Newcastle United Foundation, Newcastle Cat and Dog Shelter and St Oswald’s Hospice.
The funds could help regional charities deliver services, from air ambulance response to hospice care and youth programmes. Local businesses and golfers who take part may gain a sense of shared purpose, while beneficiary groups may reach more people in the North East. The venue’s example may encourage other golf clubs to use their facilities for fundraising, though the scale of impact would depend on continued participation and charitable need.
