Sicilian Golf Resort to Reopen as Costa Ragusa in 2027

Donnafugata Golf in Sicily is being renovated and will reopen as Costa Ragusa Golf in February 2027. The project includes a Queens Course shaped with Miguel Ángel Jiménez and a Castle Course by José María Olazábal. The original resort closed in 2020 after financial and pandemic troubles, and new investment aims to restore it as a top European destination.

Expanded Detail

Originally opened in 2009 as Donnafugata, the resort's two courses were designed by Franco Piras. It hosted the 2011 Sicilian Open and European Tour Q-School preliminary events before debt and the pandemic forced closure in 2020. DETAILS Group acquired the property and is funding its revival.

The relaunch includes the Queens Course, shaped with Miguel Ángel Jiménez, and the Castle Course by José María Olazábal. Jiménez added five tee positions per hole and oversaw bunker and green upgrades. Accommodation returns in phases: Mangia’s Costa Ragusa Borgo opened July 2026, followed by Icona’s Costa Ragusa Resort in August.
