Mitchell Matches Bridgeman for Baycurrent Classic Lead

Keith Mitchell carded a 6-under 65 at Yokohama Country Club, pulling even with Jacob Bridgeman at 11-under after two rounds of the Baycurrent Classic. Bridgeman, who led after a bogey-free 63, added a 68 on Friday. Ben Kohles, Mac Meissner, Max Homa and Zach Bauchou are tied for third, two strokes behind.
Mitchell’s 65 gave him a share of the halfway lead at 11 under. He has made 15 birdies so far, more than anyone else, and has improved his result in this Japanese event on each prior trip. This is his first tournament since mid-August and only his fourth career 36-hole lead/co-lead on the PGA Tour.
Bridgeman followed Thursday’s 63 with a 68. He already won the Genesis Invitational and Biltmore Championship Asheville this year, placed fourth in the FedExCup, and clinched the Presidents Cup for the U.S. at Medinah. Kohles, Meissner, Homa and Bauchou sit two back.
A Mitchell or Bridgeman win could boost interest in the PGA Tour’s Asian swing, especially among Japanese galleries and sponsors. Strong finishes may affect players’ FedExCup Fall standing and access to early-2027 invitationals, while a Bridgeman victory could add to season-long narratives. For fans, the close leaderboard may sustain weekend viewership and attendance.
