Milan set sights on Sporting defender Goncalo Inacio for January

Milan are reportedly ready to renew their pursuit of Sporting Lisbon centre-back Goncalo Inacio in the winter window. The Rossoneri see the 25-year-old as a primary target after failing to sign him before the season. Sporting previously accepted a €40m offer but could not find a replacement in time, and Inacio remains under contract until 2030.
Milan’s interest follows two straight seasons outside the Champions League, and the club reportedly wants to prevent a third. After summer deals for Goncalo Ramos and Diego Moreira worth a combined €150m, Milan officials are said to be planning January activity, with Inacio viewed as their leading target.
The 25-year-old left-footed centre-back is under contract until 2030. Sporting reportedly accepted a €40m bid earlier but kept him because no suitable replacement arrived in time. Inacio previously played in a back three under Ruben Amorim, where his passing and technical quality stood out.
For supporters, a January move could reshape expectations around Milan’s Champions League push and Sporting’s season. It may affect squad planning, media attention, and fan interest in both cities. Inacio’s possible departure could open opportunities for younger Sporting defenders, while a Milan switch might raise his visibility with Portugal’s national team. The wider transfer market may see another mid-season fee benchmark, though outcomes remain uncertain.
