Canadiens Trade Struble to Predators for 2027 Second-Round Pick
Montreal dealt defenseman Jayden Struble to Nashville in exchange for Vegas' 2027 second-round pick. Struble, 25, is in the second year of a two-year, $2.825 million contract and had no points in three games this season. Predators GM Chris MacFarland said the move adds a physical, mobile defender who can grow with the team.
Montreal selected Struble in the second round of the 2019 draft after he attended St. Sebastian’s School, then spent four seasons at Northeastern before turning professional. In 174 regular-season appearances for the Canadiens, he recorded seven goals and 35 points, and he also played 14 playoff games without scoring. His average ice time this season is 12:05, a career low, while his role has diminished as Lane Hutson and Noah Dobson occupy prominent spots on Montreal’s blue line.
Nashville acquired the pick sent to Montreal from Vegas in the 2025 Nic Hague trade. The Predators’ defense includes Roman Josi, Brady Skjei, Hague, Nick Perbix and Ilya Lyubushkin, and William Trudeau is on injured reserve. Struble is 25 and in the second year of a two-year, $2.825 million contract with a $1.4125 million cap hit. He has no points in three games this season. Nashville is 2-1-1 and faces Ottawa on Saturday.
