Noesen Clears Waivers, Heads to Utica

New Jersey put forward Stefan Noesen on waivers, and he cleared, allowing the team to keep him in the organization. The Devils had a surplus of forwards after several offseason additions, and Jesper Boqvist took a lineup spot. Noesen, who is coming back from a knee injury, will report to AHL Utica after limited minutes in his first two appearances.
New Jersey waived Stefan Noesen on Oct. 8, and he went unclaimed a day later. He will join AHL Utica. The Devils carried too many forwards after adding Jesper Boqvist, Evan Rodrigues, Ben Steeves, Amadeus Lombardi, and Luke Evangelista, while Paul Cotter, Evgenii Dadanov, and Maxim Tspylakov departed.
Noesen appeared twice before the move, logging 6:00 in the home opener and 8:48 against the Islanders, with two shots, 13 shifts, and a minus-2. Returning from knee surgery, he now gets ice time with a young Comets club that struggled offensively and opens at home Saturday.
The move may affect Devils fans, AHL Utica supporters, and Noesen's career trajectory. It could give younger Comets players a veteran mentor and improve Utica's offense, while New Jersey gains roster flexibility. If Noesen performs, he may earn an NHL recall, affecting lineup competition. The decision may also shape how fans view management's offseason additions and waiver risk.
