Substitute Muheim strikes late as Hamburg edge ten-man Hoffenheim

Hamburg won 3-2 at Hoffenheim with a stoppage-time goal from substitute Miro Muheim. Yussuf Poulsen put Hamburg ahead, Hoffenheim levelled through a Bornauw own goal and then led via Bambasé Conté, and Moffi equalised before Muheim's late winner. Hoffenheim had Bernardo sent off in the 65th minute.
Hamburg's Matchday 5 trip to the PreZero Arena ended with their first away victory of the season. Merlin Polzin's lineup showed four changes from the Cologne win, including 17-year-old Louis Lemke, who started two days after his birthday. Hoffenheim also rotated, giving Bernardo, Tim Lemperle and Fisnik Asllani starts; Asllani was making his first appearance this term.
The hosts had goals and moments overturned by video review: Lemperle was ruled offside, Conté's early effort was disallowed for a build-up foul, and Otto Stange's 80th-minute finish was chalked off for handball. Bernardo, already cautioned for a foul on David Møller Wolfe, received a second yellow for another challenge on him in the 65th minute.
Hamburg's late win may lift supporters' mood and boost interest in the club's season, especially after a first away success. For Hoffenheim, the defeat and red card could add pressure on players and coaches, while neutrals may enjoy the drama. Such results could influence matchday attendance, merchandise interest, and youth participation in football, though effects are likely modest and short-lived.
