Iona Prep leads New York high school football rankings for Oct. 12

Iona Preparatory School holds the top spot in the Oct. 12 New York high school football rankings after shutting out Cardinal Hayes 28-0. St. Francis and Monsignor Farrell follow at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. The Massey Ratings, which factor in results, schedule strength, and victory margin, produced the list.
Iona Prep remains No. 1 at 6-0 after blanking Cardinal Hayes. Over its past three contests, the Gaels have allowed just nine points while scoring 101. Chase Reeves, Jaydin Jackson and Trey Newton are among its notable contributors, and the defense returns most starters from a unit that gave up under 18 points per game last season.
St. Francis sits second at 5-0 following a 32-29 win over Canisius. Quarterback Trent Buttles, a Rutgers pledge, has passed for 799 yards and 10 scores with one interception, adding 657 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. Monsignor Farrell is third at 5-1 after beating Xavier 56-14; Bryce Moye has thrown for 1,314 yards, 11 touchdowns and three picks.
These rankings could influence how college recruiters, local media and fans direct attention to New York high school football programs. Standout players such as Trent Buttles, Bryce Moye and Iona Prep’s skill-position contributors may see increased visibility, while teams’ wins and schedules could affect reputations. For students and families, the list may add excitement or pressure, though rankings are only one snapshot and do not determine outcomes.
