Ovechkin Receives Lifetime 9:30 Club Pass After 930th Goal

Alex Ovechkin was given free lifetime admission to Washington's 9:30 Club after scoring the 930th goal of his NHL career. Club owner Seth Hurwitz and his son presented Ovechkin with an oversized golden ticket and a wallet-sized version in the locker room. The goal came in Ovechkin's 22nd and final NHL season during a loss to Seattle.
The 9:30 Club announced the honor on social media, labeling Ovechkin the first member of “THE 930 CLUB.” Owner Seth Hurwitz and his son Sam delivered the pass in the locker room, where Ted Leonsis and his wife Lynn also appeared in a photo. The gift included a large golden ticket and a smaller wallet-sized copy.
Ovechkin’s milestone goal opened his 22nd and last NHL campaign. He scored late in the first against Seattle’s Joey Daccord off an Ilya Protas assist, but Washington fell 5-3. The venue, open since 1980, has hosted acts including Nirvana, R.E.M. and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
This gesture may strengthen ties between Washington sports fans and local music culture. Capitals supporters and 9:30 Club regulars could see Ovechkin as a bridge between hockey and the city’s arts scene. The lifetime pass may also create a memorable fan talking point, though its practical effect is limited to one celebrity and one venue. It could subtly boost cross-promotion for both the team and club.
