Ducks promote Roger McQueen with NHL debut in reach

Anaheim is calling up forward Roger McQueen from AHL San Diego, according to Elliotte Friedman, setting up a possible NHL debut against Calgary. The Ducks selected McQueen 10th overall in the 2025 NHL Draft; he had 27 points at Providence last season and three goals in four AHL games this year. Anaheim enters Tuesday at 4-1-0 and is looking for another win over the Flames.
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Anaheim is promoting Roger McQueen from San Diego. The 2025 No. 10 pick, a Saskatoon native, is now positioned for a possible first NHL appearance versus Calgary. At Providence last season, he collected 11 goals and 16 assists over 36 NCAA games.
After signing his entry-level contract, McQueen played seven AHL regular-season contests and recorded one goal and two assists. He has begun this AHL year with three goals in four outings. Anaheim, 4-1-0, meets Calgary on Tuesday after a 4-2 victory in Alberta on Saturday.
McQueen's possible debut may energize Ducks fans and boost local interest in a young roster. It could also draw attention from Canadian hockey followers tracking a Saskatoon-born prospect. For McQueen, the moment may bring added visibility and pressure, while Calgary's winless start could make the matchup more compelling. Such call-ups can briefly shape sports conversation, merchandise interest, and youth hockey aspirations, though impact likely remains modest.
