NHL Players Set for The Price Is Right Tonight Appearance

The NHL announced that Jake Walman, Matthew Schaefer, Tom Wilson, and Brandon Montour will appear on The Price Is Right Tonight. The Canadian primetime episode, hosted by Howie Mandel, airs Monday at 8 p.m. ET on Citytv and Citytv+. Wendel Clark is also part of the NHL takeover, which was filmed in June.
The broadcast brings together four current NHL players: Edmonton's Jake Walman, the Islanders' Matthew Schaefer, Washington's Tom Wilson and Seattle's Brandon Montour. Toronto great Wendel Clark also takes part. The Canadian primetime edition is hosted by Howie Mandel and was taped in June, so the results are already decided.
This is not the first time hockey figures have joined a pricing game. Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin appeared on the U.S. version in 2010 with Jeremy Roenick and host Drew Carey. Schaefer, 19 and an Islanders alternate captain, was shown celebrating with a contestant.
This crossover could introduce NHL players to viewers who tune in for a game show, potentially broadening casual hockey exposure in Canada. Fans of the featured teams may see familiar names in a lighter setting, while the league may benefit from added entertainment coverage. Because the episode was filmed months earlier, its social media afterlife may matter more than live suspense. The effect is likely modest, but it may help humanize players beyond game highlights.
