Krösche steps down from Frankfurt sporting board post
Frankfurt confirmed on Sunday that board member for sport Markus Krösche requested to leave his position immediately. The club's supervisory board granted the request, ending his five-year association with the Bundesliga side. His tenure included a Europa League triumph in 2021/22 and Champions League participation.
Krösche arrived at Eintracht Frankfurt in 2021 and spent five years in the sporting leadership role. During that period, the club lifted the Europa League in 2021/22 and featured in the Champions League. President Mathias Beck said the supervisory board approved Krösche’s request after recent discussions about the club’s future.
His exit followed Frankfurt’s 1-0 home victory over Cologne. He also aided Adi Hütter’s return. Frankfurt’s next fixture is scheduled for 24 October at Borussia Dortmund.
The departure could unsettle Frankfurt supporters, players and staff who associate Krösche with recent European success. A change in sporting leadership may affect squad planning, transfer strategy and short-term results, which can shape fan mood and local civic pride. For the wider Bundesliga, it may add uncertainty around one of its prominent clubs, though the club’s stated ambition and upcoming fixtures could quickly shift attention back to the pitch.
