Buccigross Predicts Dylan Larkin Trade Within 7-10 Days
ESPN's John Buccigross said he expects the Detroit Red Wings to trade Dylan Larkin within 7-10 days. He did not name a destination, and Detroit has not confirmed any deal. The Red Wings are reportedly seeking multiple assets, including prospects and a first-round pick.
On Frankly Hockey with Frank Seravalli, John Buccigross said information from the previous night suggested Detroit would make a move soon. Asked if he meant Larkin or holdout defenseman Simon Edvinsson, Buccigross specified Larkin. Counting from Friday, his 7-10 day estimate lands near Oct. 23-26.
TSN's Darren Dreger reported interim GM Shawn Horcoff wants three or four assets: two high-end prospects, a current top-nine forward and a first-rounder. Larkin, 30, can veto destinations and has a short contender list; Minnesota and Montreal have surfaced most. He requested a move after Detroit's 10th straight playoff miss and lost the captaincy before camp, following a 67-point season.
A Larkin trade could reshape the Red Wings' on-ice identity and fan expectations, affecting Detroit supporters, teammates, and the NHL trade market. If he joins a contender, it may shift playoff races and boost interest in those markets. For Detroit, a rebuild-focused return could bring hope but also short-term frustration. The outcome may influence how players use no-trade protection and how teams value star centers.
