Sanderson Set to Rejoin Ottawa Against Florida
Jake Sanderson practiced Monday and is expected to play Wednesday versus Florida after missing eight games with a lower-body injury. He played only the first period of Ottawa's Oct. 3 game against Toronto before exiting. Ottawa is 6-3-0 without him, and Thomas Chabot also left Saturday's game with an upper-body injury.
Jake Sanderson practiced Monday and is expected to play Wednesday when Ottawa hosts Florida. The defenseman has missed eight straight games with a lower-body issue, an absence that started after he played only the first period of an Oct. 3 win over Toronto.
Before that, he left a Sept. 26 preseason game as a precaution and was held out of practice before returning just before the opener. He has logged only 4:29 this season and has no points. Ottawa went 6-3-0 without him, while Thomas Chabot exited Saturday with an upper-body injury. Sanderson was Ottawa’s top-scoring defenseman last season with 14 goals, 40 assists, 54 points and 24:50 average ice time.
Sanderson’s expected return could steady Ottawa’s defense and affect teammates, coaches, and fans who have watched the club manage injuries. It may also shape local game-day interest and fantasy-hockey decisions, especially with Brady Tkachuk’s return adding attention. Any broader societal effect would likely remain modest, mostly within sports communities rather than the wider public.
