Tkachuk, McDavid, Kaprizov Named NHL's Weekly Three Stars
The NHL announced its Three Stars for the week ending Oct. 18, selecting Brady Tkachuk, Connor McDavid, and Kirill Kaprizov. Tkachuk led the league with 10 points in four games, including back-to-back natural hat tricks. McDavid also recorded 10 points in three games, capped by a five-point outing against Utah.
Brady Tkachuk topped the week with six goals and four assists across four Florida games, helping the Panthers go 3-0-1. He scored three straight goals against Columbus, then repeated the feat versus Vancouver, where he tied the game late and won it in overtime.
Connor McDavid collected three goals and seven assists in three Edmonton outings, including a four-point performance in his 800th NHL game and a five-point night against Utah. Kirill Kaprizov posted four goals and three assists in four Minnesota games, lifting the Wild to first in the Central.
The recognition may boost visibility for hockey and its stars, drawing casual fans to Panthers, Oilers, and Wild games or merchandise. Fantasy hockey participants and local businesses around those markets could see increased engagement. For younger athletes, such performances may highlight consistency and clutch play. Still, the effect likely stays modest within broader sports culture, since weekly honors rarely reshape long-term popularity.
