Al Mirqab Makes Early Enquiries About Potential Inter Investment
Inter are reportedly attracting interest from the Qatari fund Al Mirqab, which has made preliminary contact about buying the club or acquiring a stake. Oaktree currently controls Inter after taking over when the previous owner defaulted on a loan. Inter are valued at roughly €1.5B to €2.1B, and president Giuseppe Marotta declined to confirm talks while praising the owners' support.
Al Mirqab, a Doha-based fund managing assets for Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, has reportedly made initial contact over Inter. The fund is said to be exploring whether the club is available outright or whether a stake could be bought. Inter's current valuation is placed between €1.5B and €2.1B, with the upcoming new stadium potentially pushing the price higher.
Oaktree gained control after the prior owner defaulted on a loan secured against the club. President Giuseppe Marotta did not confirm talks, instead highlighting the owners' infrastructure spending and improved finances. He said he is not involved in ownership decisions and trusts any move would serve Inter's long-term interests.
If investment talks advance, Inter supporters, staff, and local communities could be affected by changes in ownership priorities. New capital may influence stadium plans, squad spending, and commercial strategy, potentially altering ticket prices or club identity. Serie A's competitive balance and Italian football's international profile might also shift. However, preliminary talks may lead nowhere, so any social effects remain uncertain.
