Oilers Edge Wild in Overtime Behind Draisaitl and Special Teams

Leon Draisaitl scored twice and Evan Bouchard netted the overtime winner as Edmonton beat Minnesota 4-3 at Rogers Place. The Oilers converted three of five power plays and killed all three Wild advantages, while Devon Levi made 27 saves. Edmonton improved to 7-1-1 and remained second in the Pacific Division.
Edmonton’s home stand opener turned on special teams. The Oilers scored three times on five power plays and denied all three Minnesota advantages. A late first-period five-on-three, created by penalties to David Spacek and Matt Boldy, led to Leon Draisaitl’s first goal at 19:57; he added another 63 seconds into the second. Evan Bouchard’s overtime winner, assisted by Connor McDavid, came at 3:32 after Minnesota was called for too many men.
Devon Levi stopped 27 shots. Minnesota generated more high-danger chances, 21-13 overall and 19-10 at five-on-five, with expected goals of 5.37, yet Levi limited the damage. Since his Oilers debut, when he allowed seven goals on 22 shots against Vancouver on Oct. 1, he has gone 4-1-0 with a 2.00 goals-against average and .931 save percentage.
