Decisions Facing Hansi Flick as Barcelona Prepare for Real Madrid
Barcelona are looking to respond after losing to PSG and now turn to Sunday’s La Liga match against Real Madrid. Hansi Flick may bring Rodri back into the starting lineup and must cope without Dani Olmo, Eric Garcia, and possibly Jules Kounde. Frenkie de Jong is available again, while Gavi and other squad players are pushing for minutes.
Barcelona enter Sunday’s La Liga meeting with Real Madrid after their first loss this season, a midweek Champions League defeat at Paris Saint-Germain. A win at Camp Nou would lift Hansi Flick’s side nine points above Madrid.
Flick left Rodri on the bench against PSG partly with El Clasico in mind, so the midfielder is expected to start. Dani Olmo and Eric Garcia are unavailable, Jules Kounde is doubtful with an ankle issue, and Frenkie de Jong is fit again while Gavi and others seek minutes.
The match may affect Barcelona and Madrid supporters, local businesses around Camp Nou, and broadcast audiences, with a result shaping mood and media discussion. A Barcelona win could strengthen confidence among fans and players; a loss may increase scrutiny on Flick. Because El Clasico draws wide attention, the team selection and injury news could influence public conversation beyond sport, but any social effect is likely indirect and short-lived.
