Jarvis cleared to return as Hurricanes reshuffle roster

Carolina removed Seth Jarvis from injured reserve on Wednesday, clearing him to make his season debut Thursday against Edmonton. Jarvis had been recovering from shoulder surgery and posted 66 points in 71 games last season before adding 11 points in 19 playoff contests. The Hurricanes also promoted Skyler Brind’Amour from Chicago and assigned Bradley Nadeau to the AHL.
Jarvis, 24, sat out the opening portion of the schedule while finishing rehabilitation from an offseason operation on his shoulder. Carolina plans to use the Winnipeg-born winger Thursday at Edmonton, adding a key forward after he totaled 66 points in 71 games a season ago.
He contributed 11 points in 19 playoff contests while Carolina won the Stanley Cup and helped Canada earn silver at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. The Hurricanes chose him 13th overall in 2020; he had 40 points as a rookie and reached 67 in 2023-24.
Jarvis’s return could affect more than the standings. Fans who followed his recovery may see a morale boost, while teammates and coaches may gain lineup flexibility during a road trip. Local businesses and broadcasters around Carolina could benefit if his debut draws added attention. The move may also remind young athletes that injury recovery can require patience, though the actual on-ice impact will depend on how quickly he adjusts.
