Bortoleto sees value in Audi’s long-term F1 build

Audi driver Gabriel Bortoleto spoke in Austin about treating his current F1 role as part of a longer team-building project. He acknowledged wanting stronger results but said he values helping develop a newer operation. Bortoleto also reflected on the different paths drivers take and his goal of eventually turning Audi into a race-winning team.
Bortoleto is in his second F1 season, now with Audi’s factory entry, which began competition in 2026. The previous year he raced for Sauber alongside Nico Hülkenberg during the team’s last season.
His 2026 results include an early points finish in Australia and later eighth-place finishes in Britain and Belgium. In Austin he said COTA’s mix of high-, medium-, and low-speed corners might suit the car, though he avoided predictions after earlier misses.
This story may resonate with motorsport fans and young drivers by framing patience and team-building as alternatives to instant results. It could also affect Audi’s public image, since supporters and sponsors may judge the project by gradual progress rather than immediate wins. For local audiences around races, sustained team investment may support events and media interest, though the effect depends on competitive performance.
