Cullen Appointed to Lead Golf Operations at Apes Hill Barbados
Apes Hill Barbados has appointed Irish professional Killian Cullen as its director of golf. Cullen joins from Point Grey in Vancouver after previous work at Portmarnock in Dublin. He will oversee the Ron Kirby-designed course and the Barbados Legends event, which is hosted by 1991 Masters champion Ian Woosnam.
Cullen’s career spans Irish links golf and Canadian parkland operations. At Point Grey he held a senior associate role from 2022; earlier he was a senior assistant at Portmarnock in Dublin. His Apes Hill remit covers the Ron Kirby-designed 18-hole layout, the nine-hole Little Apes short course, an island-green 19th hole and a technology-focused performance centre.
He will also help with the Barbados Legends, a Staysure Legends Tour event hosted by Ian Woosnam, the 1991 Masters winner and former world No. 1. The 475-acre resort includes homes, villas, hiking, a beach club and wellness amenities; its championship course holds Audubon International certification. Apes Hill recently entered GOLF’s Top 100 Golf Resorts in the World and was recognized for lodging.
This appointment may strengthen Apes Hill’s golf and lifestyle offerings, potentially drawing more international visitors and supporting hospitality employment and local supplier links in Barbados. It could also expand coaching and tournament experience for staff and players connected to the Legends event, though benefits may depend on how resort growth is shared with surrounding communities.
