Alcoba Doubles Up in WorldSSP at Cremona; Arenas Keeps Title Fight Alive
Jeremy Alcoba won Sunday's World Supersport Race 2 at Cremona Circuit, taking a 20-lap victory by 0.493 second aboard a Kawasaki ZX-6R 636. Albert Arenas was second and Tom Booth-Amos third. Valentin Debise finished fifth, so the championship will be decided at Estoril, where Arenas leads with 351 points to Debise's 265.
Alcoba started from pole and turned it into a weekend sweep, adding Race 2 to his Race 1 win. The Kawasaki rider beat Arenas by 0.493 seconds over 20 laps, with Booth-Amos completing the rostrum. It was Alcoba's first WorldSSP double and second series victory.
Arenas' runner-up finish was his 16th podium this season. Debise came home fifth, 6.502 seconds back, so the crown remains open. Arenas leads Debise 351-265, with Masia third on 229. At Estoril, a Race 1 podium would secure Arenas the title.
