Daka ruled out for weeks by thigh muscle tear

Hamburg forward Patson Daka is set for a spell on the sidelines after tests showed a torn muscle in his left thigh. The Zambia international was substituted at half-time in a 3-1 AFCON qualifying loss to Algeria on 25 September and missed the following win over Togo. Daka, who joined in the summer, has appeared in all four of Hamburg's Bundesliga fixtures this season; the club sits 16th after beating Cologne before the break.
Patson Daka, a Zambia international striker, arrived at Hamburg during the summer and had played in each of the club's four Bundesliga matches this season. He also appeared in all five competitive fixtures overall before getting hurt while on national-team duty.
After starting Zambia's 3-1 loss to Algeria on 25 September, Daka was withdrawn at the interval because of a muscle issue. He then missed Zambia's 2-0 win over Togo four days later. An MRI back at Hamburg revealed a tear in a left-thigh muscle, ruling him out for weeks. Hamburg are 16th, having beaten Cologne 2-1 before the break after three opening defeats.
The setback may frustrate Hamburg supporters and Zambia followers, and could reduce the team's attacking choices while it tries to move up from 16th. Teammates and coaches may need to adjust short-term plans, while Zambia's qualifying preparations could also be affected. Beyond football audiences and those close to Daka, the broader social impact is likely limited.
