Cambodia's Angkor Golf Resort Taps Troon for Reopening Push

Angkor Golf Resort in Siem Reap has brought in Troon International as a strategic adviser as it prepares to reopen in early November 2026. The Sir Nick Faldo-designed 18-hole course, which first opened in 2007, is undergoing work focused on course conditions and visitor facilities. Troon will also assist with tourism promotion, staff development, procurement, finance, and sales as the resort seeks to strengthen Siem Reap's standing as a golf destination.
Angkor Golf Resort’s planned November 2026 return follows a closure announced for June 2026, though a separate tee-time listing had pointed to July 2027. The Faldo layout, open since 2007, measures 7,279 yards at par 72 and includes a driving range, practice areas, and a clubhouse; it has staged international professional events.
Troon’s advisory scope covers agronomy, operations, tourism promotion, staff learning, procurement, finance, and sales. The resort sits near Angkor Archaeological Park, home to Angkor Wat and Bayon. In Phnom Penh, Troon also works with Vattanac Golf Resort, a 36-hole Faldo facility due to host Legends Tour events in late 2026.
The reopening may affect local hospitality workers, caddies, tour operators, and nearby businesses by increasing visitor demand if tee times are confirmed. Golf travellers could extend stays in Siem Reap, potentially supporting tourism revenue around Angkor. Benefits depend on actual reopening, course readiness, and overseas bookings. Local residents may see more jobs and spending, though gains could be uneven or seasonal.
