Shannons Takes Naming Rights for Australian Superbike Championship

Shannons has become the title sponsor of the Australian Superbike Championship. The series will switch to a summer calendar for the first time since it began in 1989. The 2027 season is scheduled to open at Phillip Island on October 23-25 alongside the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, with six rounds in total.
Shannons, an insurer with long-standing ties to motoring enthusiasts, becomes the title partner of the Australian Superbike Championship. The agreement puts its name on a series that will run through summer for the first time since 1989, with six scheduled rounds.
The opener is set for Phillip Island on 23-25 October, sharing the weekend with the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix and featuring a 32-rider grid. Later stops include The Bend, One Raceway, Queensland Raceway, Phillip Island again, and a Sydney Motorsport Park finale. Shannons plans fan activities at every round and insurance discounts for Motorcycling Australia members.
The summer shift could draw larger holiday crowds and more international attention, potentially benefiting host regions, teams and riders through added exposure. Motorcycling Australia members may gain insurance savings, while fans could see expanded activations. It may also place greater demands on volunteers, officials and travel budgets, so the calendar’s success could depend on how well those groups adapt.
