TGL sets five-man squads for 2027 campaign
TGL has announced five-player rosters for each of its teams ahead of the 2027 season. The league's first trade sent Shane Lowry from The Bay Golf Club to Boston Common Golf. Motor City Golf Club joins as an expansion franchise, and several new players are entering the league.
TGL has finalized five-player lineups for all seven clubs ahead of 2027. The Bay Golf Club sent Shane Lowry to Boston Common Golf in the league’s first trade. Motor City Golf Club enters as the first expansion team, with an entirely new roster. Other squads also added fresh faces, including young PGA Tour talents.
The league returns after two seasons, with existing team histories and rivalries. TMRW Sports golf president Rufus Hack linked the lineups to player character, city identity and ownership vision. A November 8 start at SoFi Center is noted.
TGL’s larger rosters and Motor City expansion could widen the league’s reach, especially among golf fans in Detroit and younger viewers drawn to team formats. More recognizable PGA Tour names may boost attendance, media coverage and merchandise interest. For players, added spots create opportunities but also intensify competition for limited roles. The first trade may make team loyalty and rivalries more compelling. If the league grows, it could complement traditional tournaments by offering a shorter, technology-driven alternative, though its long-term cultural and economic effects remain uncertain.
