Detroit Official Says Larkin Relationship Has Improved

Red Wings alternate governor Jim Devellano said the organization has repaired its relationship with Dylan Larkin and wants him to remain with the team long term. The interview was recorded before a report that Larkin had expanded his acceptable trade destinations to 10 clubs. Larkin controls his trade fate with a no-movement clause and had five points while appearing in seven of Detroit's first nine games.
Jim Devellano, Detroit’s alternate governor, said on the “Ozzy and Keats” podcast that he, interim GM Shawn Horcoff and coach Todd McLellan had reconciled with Dylan Larkin. Devellano added that he told the player directly he is valued and the club hopes he remains long term.
The podcast was recorded before Helene St. James reported that Larkin had increased to 10 the number of clubs he would accept a trade to, with Carolina, Colorado, New Jersey, Tampa Bay, Utah and Washington joining an earlier quartet. Larkin holds a full no-movement clause and had five points while appearing in seven of Detroit’s first nine contests.
The outcome may affect Red Wings fans, Detroit-area businesses tied to game-day activity, and Larkin’s family and community connections, while giving other players and clubs a case study in how no-movement clauses shape leverage. It could also shift local media attention and fan mood, though the direct civic impact is likely limited.
