Winnipeg waives Walker Duehr with AHL assignment in mind
Winnipeg placed forward Walker Duehr on waivers Monday, making him available to the NHL’s other 31 teams. If he clears, the Jets can assign him to AHL Manitoba. Duehr, 28, has not played this season because of a lower-body injury but was cleared to practice Friday.
Winnipeg's decision makes Duehr available to every other club. If no team claims him, he can be sent to Manitoba of the AHL. The 28-year-old has been sidelined all season by a lower-body issue from preseason, though he returned to full practice Friday.
Duehr previously appeared in three games for the Jets last season without a point. With Manitoba, he recorded 34 points in 62 games and added three in seven playoff contests. He began his pro career with Calgary after playing at Minnesota State Mankato.
For Duehr, a waiver claim could offer a fresh NHL opportunity, while a clear path to Manitoba may mean regular playing time as he returns from injury. The Jets may gain roster flexibility, and the Moose could add an experienced forward. Fans and fantasy players might see minor ripple effects, but the move is unlikely to reshape the broader hockey landscape.
